QlikTip: Display low and high values in QlikView Bar Chart
Let us see how to build a chart in QlikView to showcase the low and high values in a bar chart. Datasets like temperatures of city contains data points with low and high values of day temperature that we would like to display values in a bar chart. Most of the time, we show this data in table chart as shown below
We can show the same table in a better visual as show below bar chart.
QlikTip : Showing Total on a Bar Chart in QlikView
Sometime there are requirements to show total value on a Bar Chart as shown above. In QlikView it is possible and the option to turn on is not on the Presentation tab of chart property.
It is available on the Dimension Limits of the Chart Property. In the screenshot of the Bar chart, the Dimension is Year and the measure is Sum(Sales).
The requirement to show top n category is common request from business. For example, show the number one product sold in last 5 years. I will demonstrate a simple way to showcase building a straight table and use of dimension limit option available in QlikView.
In the data model, I have dimension Year, Product, Unit Price and Units sold. Your data model may be different and choose required fields as per your requirement
To your sheet add a new chart object and select Straight Table icon, Enter the text Top Product by Year in the Window Title text box.
Visualizing ranking based on a metric for a given dimension over a time period is possible in QlikView chart object. Slope or Bump chart helps visualizing data for a top n analysis and change in ranking over the time period.
The visualization below shows ranking of Product Segment over a time period of six year. The chart help us to see the ranking of each Segment every year, and increase or decrease in the ranking. The top 3 ranking has remain same over the period of time, but changes are visible for ranking between 4 to 8.
I will demonstrate…
